Easy tricks to do professional makeup

Right Tools
1. Yes ladies, if you really want to apply your makeup like a pro, remember tools like sponges and brushes are as important as your beauty products. A good brush is one that has dense, soft and fluffy hair; the one which helps you blend your makeup evenly and the one which gives you a flawless finish without wasting a lot of your product.

So whether you are a professional makeup artist or an amateur, remember investing in a quality foundation brush can make even the most inexpensive products look like a dream.Remember to wash your brush properly after you ve used it. You can use an alcohol based Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser to clean the brushes and towel dry them around the bristles. .....

When applying an eye shadow, remember to build colour up slowly. So after the neutral shade, put a stronger second colour on the sockets and the third (if required) along the crease, from one corner to the other.

Next, apply good black or colored pencil eyeliner, we swear by L Oral Paris Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner from the inner corner to the centre of the lid, and from the outside corner to the middle.Lastly, to give you the appearance of long, thick gorgeous eyelashes, swipe a super dramatic coat of mascara. .....

Eyeshadow Makeup Tips That Make Sense
10. The best part of Almays Bright Eyes eyeshadow collection of products if for brightening the eye area. This version has two eyeshadows in one package, one a softer shade than the other, and each with a cream to powder finish.Combining these or using them separately is supposed to create the intensity or brightening you need, but those traits can be attributed to most eyeshadow formulas, depending on the colors you choose. The cream to barely powder finish helps create a sheer application but they remain creamy even after blending and are prone to creasing and fading. If you like pressed powder eyeshadows, you may want to try Smooth Minerals eyeshadow from Avon. The main minerals in Avons formula are the same as those used in most eyeshadows, even though theyre not marketed or labeled as mineral makeup. On a positive note, compared to other loose mineral powders, Avon took care to choose packaging that minimizes the mess, so if youre extra careful, this works well as a silky smooth powder eyeshadow with a finish that is either a sparkling shine (Bronzestone, Pixie Dust, Russet, and Pink Sapphire) or a soft shimmer (all the other shades). The shine stays in place reasonably well, though some flaking is inevitable.

The gray blue Breeze shade is the only one to consider avoiding, unless you intend to apply it sheer. Eyeshadow Perfect Pro by DHC features three shades for shaping and shading the eyes, along with a thin strip of powder eyeliner. Shine is the name of the game here, but for those who prefer shiny eyeshadows these have a sumptuous, almost creamy texture that is a pleasure to apply and blend. Color payoff (including for the dark eyelining shade) is sheer, but the formula builds well and the shine tends to stay in place. Each of the sets is well coordinated, though whats available is limited to say the least.Revlon makes a great eyeshadow where the texture is smooth, the colors are soft and well coordinated, and it blends well to a low glow cream finish. Whats not to like? You can blend Revlon shades together to get a gradation of color and be able to shape and shade the eye (which is the purpose of eyeshadow). However, in some cases, even if your blending is precise, the formula tends to cause the colors to migrate into one.If powder eyeshadows with obvious shine and sheer color payoff are what youre after, Revlons option is worth exploring. This eyeshadow has a beautifully silky texture that isnt the least bit "dusty" and it applies evenly. You can build more intensity, but keep in mind that doing so ups the shine ante, because with each layer you get more shine than pigment. .....

How To Make Your Eyes Pop
11. For eyes that look bigger, brighter and more colorful, you dont need any complicated makeup tricks just pick the right eyeshadow shade. Its a basic color theory opposite shades on the color wheel make each other look more intense and vibrant. This means that you should pick an eye shadow shade that is directly opposite your eye color on a traditional color wheel. Follow this guide to discover your most flattering eye shadow shade:If you have green eyes, try out purple eye shadow shades such as lavender, violet, or amethyst. Keep the color sheer so it wont look garish. For eyeliner, a deep plum is perfect. If you have blue eyes, go for a warm copper, burnished gold, or rich brown eye shadow. Chocolate is an excellent shade choice for eyeliner. If you have brown eyes, opt for cool blue or green eye shadow tones like mint, powder blue, or teal. A deep forest green is an ideal eyeliner shade.

Do you ever have those sad days when you feel like nothing is coming together? Like, everything you do is pointless and meaningless? When you doubt your tiniest decisions and feel like you could have chosen better? When you just feel angry at God and blame him for not making things easier? We all have those days, being humans, its unavoidable. We name them as bad days and put up with them and keep going through with it, not because we have no choice, but because in our hearts of hearts, we know that the bad day is going to come to an end, bringing night and calm with it and hoping that the next day is a better one. But when you are having those bad days you can do things to make yourself feel a tiny bit better. Like wear a bright eyeliner and do something different with your looks. I believe, if you are an artist, you can use your face as a canvas and paint something beautiful.Something that can make you feel different.
Start with a plain clean eye, wipe away all traces of your kajal. Prep and prime(optional) it for whats coming.
Take your favorite blue eyeshadow/ liner, and line 1/4th of your lower lash line. Do not line you waterline, save it for later to use your black kajal. Here I am using Maybelline color tattoo in Tenacious teal(who came up with that name? its so glamorous), its a beautiful blue color and its paraben free.
Now take your favorite teal eyeshadow/liner and line your lower lash line, starting from the point where the blue liner stops till the inner corner of your eye. when you are done with this step, 3/4th of your lower lash line should be lined while the inner corner should be free of any color. Here I am using Maybelline Eye Studio Vivid and Smooth Liner in the color Ocean Blue.
Now take your favorite silver or champagne eyeshadow/liner and line the inner corners of your eye, starting from the point where your teal line ends dragging it all the way up to the inner corner of your upper lash line. This will draw light to your eye and make it look brighter. Here I am using the champagne color from Revlon photoready sculpting blush pallet.
Now Take your teal color and line your upper lash line from the point where the silver liner ends to 3/4th of your lash line. Then, finish up lining the upper lash line by using the blue color and lining it from the point where the teal ends to the outer corner of your eye. I am basically repeating what I did to my lower lash line in the reverse order.
Now take your favorite black pencil liner and line your lower water line starting from the outer corner and lining all the way till the inner corner. I believe any eye look is in complete without black. It just adds life to your eye.
Now use the black liner to line your upper waterline under the lashes. We Dont want to use black liner on the lash line because it will spoil the look. So I am only lining my waterline.
Finish up using your favorite black mascare. Here, I am using Maybelline falsies.
And voila, you will instantly feel brighter and a little more cheerful when you are done with this look. I personally do not like to use eye shadows on my lids because it makes me look a little too over done. I like to keep my makeup light and relateable. But, if you like shadows on your lids, then try it. .....

How To Create A Smokey Eye
12. Purple has always been one of my favorite colors to use on the eyes. It is the perfect color to wear for fall and winter and just makes my eyes pop! Below is a step by step makeup tutorial on how you can create a great purple smoky eye without even using purple eyeshadow.
Prep the eyelid with a primer to ensure more vibrant and longer lasting color.
Apply a shimmery light pink eyeshadow onto the eyelid from the lashline all the way to past the crease.
Using a dense eyeshadow brush like my newest must have piccasso 239B, define the crease and lashline with a dark blue color.
Line the upper and lower lashlines with a black pencil.
Soften the line by smudging the dark blue shadow on top with a small brush.
Using MAC #226 Small Tapered Blending Brush, blend off harsh edges.
Add a dab of the pink shadow on the center of the eyelid with a damp brush for an extra pop of color.
Brush a frosty white shadow under the brow bone to highlight.
Curl your lashes and coat with black mascara. Apply fake lashes as desired.
Keep your eyebrows soft by filling them in with a brown brow powder that is lighter than your natural brow color.
Clean up any eyeshadow fallouts before applying foundation and concealer and you are done. .....
Purple ize Your Eyes
13. Pretty in pink Try posh in purple. The stars are lighting up the red carpet with eyes awash in shades of lilac, amethyst and indigo. Purple is a great shade for spring because its totally feminine and romantic, says celebrity makeup artist and LORAC founder Carol Shaw. Here, Shaw shares her tips on how to update this classically feminine shade for a look thats more modern romantic than 80?s prom queen.
When wearing purple during the day, be subtle. Use brown eyeshadow as a base and then pump it up with purple. This is good for daytime, because it is a soft look that still uses color, says Shaw. Start off with a natural beige on the lids, followed by a soft brown in the crease. Then line your eyes with a purple eyeshadow or eyeliner for a pop of color. We like >Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Orchid.
For a night out purple, turn up the color volume with a smoky eye. Start off with a soft pink eyeshadow as the base color from lash line to crease, says Shaw. Highlight with a shimmery white eyeshadow under the browbone, then add a deep purple eyeshadow to the crease and outer corner. We like >LORAC Rhapsody Eye Shadow. Finish by lining eyes with a black pencil or dark purple eyeliner. No matter the intensity you choose, keep the rest of your makeup soft and in the same color family to avoid looking harsh or dated. Avoid bronzer and bright lipstick when using purple eyeshadows, she says. Stick with soft pink cheeks and nude or baby pink lips to complete that modern romantic look. .....
Get Lashes So Long
14. Remove the lashes from the pack and hold them against your eye to measure them against the length of your own natural lash line. False lashes are often too long for your eye, so ensure you cut the strips to fit. If you leave them too long, they will drag your eyes down which will have the opposite effect of the youthful look you are aiming for.
Now you have two choices: either apply the adhesive on to the full length of the base of the false lashes or, using a brush (Blink & Go has a micro brush especially for this purpose, available from nouveaulashes.co.uk), place dots of adhesive along your own natural lash line before pressing the false lash on to it.If this is all too much kerfuffle, Eylure does ready glued lashes which you can simply peel off and stick on.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the opposite eye. It is very important to wait 30 seconds for the adhesive to become tacky before applying the false lashes.
Using tweezers, hold the strip lash in the centre. Then place it in the centre of your natural lashes. Then, again using the tweezers, push the inner side of strip lash in place, followed by the outer side.
Using a 'pinching and push' technique with the tweezers to pinch together the strip lashes and your natural lashes, then 'push' them towards your eyelids. Do this all the way across the lashes and repeat for the other eye.
Eyeliner can be added if needed, or mascara, but this needs careful application to the natural lashes only. You may find you don't need any other eye make up at all. .....
Summer Brow Know How
15. If you like to keep your makeup minimal during the dog days of summer, pay special attention to your brows. Defined arches are key to adding dimension and focus to an otherwise bare face. Heed these brow tips to keep your arches in great shape:
Go to a pro.
Treat yourself to a professional brow grooming in the beginning of summer. How can you tell if she ?s good? If her brows look great, then yours will too.
Pluck at home every day.
Maintain your professionally shaped arches by scanning for regrowth daily. Its easiest to spot strays in natural light, so do it by a window. As soon as you see a new hair peek through your skin, pluck it using tweezers that have a pointy tip.Use a light hand.
Overly shaded arches look too severe in summer. If your brows are naturally thick, keep them in shape with clear brow gel. Need more definition? Use a brow pencil and light feathery strokes to fill in bald spots only. .....
Lush Lash Trick
16. Thick long lashes are seriously sexy. This three step technique will make your mascara work like a magic wand.
Step 1:WIGGLE.
Wipe excess mascara off the brush head, then place it under the very base of your lashes so its gently touching your eyelid. Now wiggle the bristles back and forth a few times. The wiggle motion thoroughly coats and separates your lash roots, making them look as thick aspossible.
Step 2:SWOOP.
Slowly stroke the mascara from roots to ends. Let dry for a few seconds, then apply a second coat.
Step 3: TOP OFF.
Lightly swipe the very tips of your lashes a third time to maximize their length. .....
Beat those brow blahs

A quick trick to tame unruly brows and accentuate your arch is to use your favorite mascara in a shade darker than your natural hair color. Do you need eye cream
19. Theres a reason why eyes get special treatment! Skin beneath the eyes lacks a fatty layer and has fewer oil glands and support than in the rest of the face. After cleansing, apply product with a gentle patting motion using the pad of your fourth finger. Eye creams contain ingredients specifically formulated to treat the delicate skin around the eyes and can be a worthwhile investment. .....
Plumping up thin lashes

Professional Eye Makeup
31. While you can wear a natural style of eye makeup for work, many women like to define the eye a bit more. You can acheive a polished, professional eye makeup style by using neutral eye shadow and liner shades and a regular mascara formula (skip the heavy or dramatic formulas for work). Matte shadow and liner is best for a professional look; shimmer or metallic formulas can look too playful. Perform these steps for a basic professional eye:
Apply a base eye shadow in a shade close to your skin tone.
Add a medium neutral color to your crease and create a slight "v" at the outer corner of the eye to define it.
Sweep a highlight shade just under the browbone and at the inner corner of the eyes.
Use a blending brush to blend the eye shadow well.
Apply a neutral liquid eyeliner on the top lid only, making a clean line that is slightly thicker at the outer corner but does not extend too far past the eye.
Curl lashes and apply two coats of mascara. .....
Soft and Romantic
32. Avoid harsh eyeliner and shadow lines for a soft, romantic look (great for date night or weekend wear). Instead, focus on using soft color and defining your gorgeous lashes.A simple way to get a soft look is to use a single eye shadow color in a pretty pastel or neutral shade. A color with a slight shimmer can look pretty and romantic. Make sure eyeliner is blended well and just used to lightly define the eyes. Try a kohl pencil in a neutral shade or a shade slightly darker than your eye shadow. The focus of a romantic look is often the lashes. Here's how you can get lush, romantic lashes:
Make sure to curl lashes, 'walking' the curler up and curling from root to tip.
Use an eyelash primer to get longer, fuller lashes and help mascara adhere better.
Use a lengthening mascara on top and bottom lashes.
Avoid over applying mascara; too much will look overdone rather than romantic. .....

1950s and 60s: Use liquid liner in a thick, bold line across the top lid and two coats of mascara for a simple 50s eye style. Another popular style was the cat eye makeup look with winged liner and a blue, grey, or turquoise shadow.
1970s: Darker eyes were out and lighter eye makeup or bare natural eyes were in. Try light pastel shadows, pale blue, or silvery liner and light mascara for this style.
1980s: Lots of blue eye shadow and colored mascara were staples of the 80s. Goth and punk styles with heavy, exaggerated makeup on the eyes also became popular during this era.

Basic Makeup Tips Every Woman should Know
40. Apply eye shadow before you put on your foundation.
A lot of people wonder about how to apply eye shadow. Putting on eye shadow after foundation can only lead to problems. Flecks from the shadow can fall onto your face, making it impossible to remove it without wiping off some of the foundation just applied. By applying eye shadow first, if any falls onto your face, you can swipe it off very easily with makeup remover.Already applied foundation and in a dilemma? Here Is a makeup trick: Grab a piece of scotch tape and gently press it onto the area where flecks are visible. The tape will clean up any excess shadow.
Do not skip the primer.
Primer is like the glue that holds your makeup together for hours at a time. It smoothes out the skins surface and reduces shine caused by sebum. A primer is not a moisturiser. Always moisturise the face first, wait for 10 15 minutes and then follow up with a primer.
Apply foundation colour that is closest to your skin tone.
Some people make the mistake of purchasing a foundation with a face full of makeup, which does not help the consultant find your perfect shade. Next time you head to the makeup counter, be sure to go all natural. To attain the perfect shade that is best for you, test the foundation on your jaw line. This will give you the most accurate match for your skin tone. Apply it with a brush or a sponge and never with your fingers as a lot of product gets wasted on your hands and also it would not be too hygienic.
Never skip applying a loose/pressed powder after applying a liquid foundation.
No one likes to look like a shiny mess, especially if you are attending a social event or working in an eight hour shift. Too many women forget to apply a powder to seal their makeup. The result? A melting face you could have prevented if you didnt skip that one simple little step.
Get rid of mascara that is three months old.
Every time you open a tube of mascara, airborne bacteria clings onto the wand. The tube also acts as a breeding ground for bacteria. Toss out mascara that has been open for three months or longer.
Do not go to sleep with your makeup on EVER.
Sleeping with makeup on is bad for your skin as pores can get clogged, your skin wont breathe and you can wake up the next morning with a face full of zits. Next time you plan on spending a long night out, keep makeup remover wipes handy at your bedside. .....

60. Have you ever purchased a vibrant color of shadow that once applied appears rather dull? The key to making those colors pop is a white base. Use a white eyeliner and cover your entire lid before applying the color of your choice. .....
The False Eyelash Look
61. False lashes can be a pain, not to mention time consuming. Here are a few ways to get the look without the hassle 1. After curling your lashes, apply a thin layer of powder before applying your mascara. I just sweep a small blending brush across my compact and apply it to the top and bottom of my eyelashes. Ive also heard that some people use baby powder, although I think they both have virtually the same effect; creating a base that makes them appear much fuller. 2. Apply two coats of mascara to the bottom and TOP side of your lashes, but wait 35 minutes in between each coat, otherwise they tend to get clumpy not cute. 3. When applying your mascara, you dont want to just move your mascara wand from the base of your lashes up. Make sure you are moving the mascara wand back and forth while going up. The left and right motion will make sure every lash is covered entirely, all the way to the tip. 4. Almost done. Now, check your lashes for any gaps. Use the tip of your wand to apply another coat of mascara to individual lashes where they look sparse. Even better, use a fine tipped liquid eyeliner to fine tune and fill in any gaps. .....

Heat Your Lash Curler
63. Hold a blow dryer up next to your lash curler for about 35 seconds. The heat works the same way as it does with your curling iron, giving you those flirty lashes that will last all day. .....
The Perfect Match
64. This is the one thing that no matter how well its applied, if its the wrong color, it will look terrible. We all dread that our foundation will give us a ghost face or even worse, that dreaded orange jaw line. Because your neck isnt exposed to the sun as much as your face, it is much better for matching your true color. .....

Secret Eye Lift
66. Sweep a light pink matte pencil across the entire length of your brow bone to create the illusion of a higher arch, and then blend, blend, blend. It should not be detectable. .....
Proper Contouring
67. When applied right, contouring can define your cheekbones and jaw line, reduce the look of a double chin, minimize a larger nose, and lift sagging eyes. Its basically using makeup to highlight and accentuate your features. This is especially important for photos, as the camera tends to pick up shadows and highlights better than the naked eye. There are actual contouring and highlighting powders made just for this, but you can also use a bronzer or powder that is a few shades darker than your skin, and a foundation that is a few shades lighter for highlighting. For the most part, your tzone and under eye area is where you want to highlight, and the outer portion of your face, underneath your cheekbones, and your neck is where you want to define with a darker color. Keep in mind, blending is key for a natural look. This may take some practice at first. .....
The Line Saver
68. Im always checking my eye makeup in the case that my eyeliner isnt in its original place. Certain eyeliners are more prone to this, especially those that arent water proof, but I dont like using waterproof makeup because its so darn hard to get off. I always feel like Im ripping my lashes off in the removal process. To keep your liner behaving, sweep loose or pressed powder right under the eye liner on your bottom lid. It creates somewhat of a barrier, preventing your eyeliner from traveling downward. .....
The Lip Cheat
69. As it turns out, we werent all blessed with Angelina Jolies lush lips. Now, there are a few tricks to making them appear larger a glossy lip being one, but for a more dramatic effect, dont be afraid to line your lips just outside of your natural line. When I say just outside of your natural line, I mean slightly. You dont want to look like a clown by over doing it. .....
Downward Strokes
70. Although you want to wash your face and apply your moisturizer with upwards strokes to help lessen fine lines and a sagging face, the opposite is true for foundation and powder. Most of us have a little bit of hair on our face, and it tends to grow downwards. If you apply your makeup with upward strokes, it will cause your peach fuzz to stick strait up, making it more noticeable. .....

Eyeliner
81. Black liner swept across the top lid makes a bold yet elegant statement that needs very little else: Think Angelina Jolie, who s hardly ever photographed without her signature eye look. The trick, says Ashunta Sheriff, a makeup artist who works with Alicia Keys and other celebrities, is to swap your pencil for a liquid or gel liner. (Sheriff is a fan of Vincent Longo s Liquid Eyeliner in Black.) Close the eye and, starting at the inner corner, move the line outward and wing it slightly at the end, she advises. If you have trouble holding your hand steady, create little dashes along the lash line and go back and connect them. Stick to a neutral tone, such as MAC Eye Shadow in Bisque a muted pinky beige shade, on the rest of the lid. .....
